Alonso finishes a lowly P21 at Indy 500

Fernando Alonso has failed in his latest attempt to win the Triple Crown, finishing P21 at the Indianapolis 500. Alonso has been bidding to become only the second racer in history after Graham Hill to clinch the Triple Crown, which is achieved by winning the Monaco Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indy 500. While the two-time Formula 1 World Champion has ticked the first two boxes, the iconic race at The Brickyard has continued to elude him. Alonso was hopeful of a better race day performance from his Chevrolet-powered Arrow McLaren SP after only managing to qualify on row nine in P26.
