Renault furlough most of UK-based staff

Renault have confirmed that most of their UK-based workers have been placed on furlough due to the coronavirus pandemic. The team is applying for the UK government's furlough scheme, and plans to top up the money so that all staff at its Enstone factory receive at least 80% of their wages. Currently the opening nine rounds of the 2020 Formula 1 season have been shelved, while the usual three-week shutdown that was brought forward from August has been extended from three weeks to five weeks. A Renault statement read: 'As of April 1st, the vast majority of Enstone staff will effectively have a total shutdown (furlough) until May 31.
