McLaren officially return to IndyCar as a full-time effort in 2020, as a joint effort with Schmidt Peterson Motorsport. Watch their car reveal live. McLaren will race in IndyCar this season, having partnered up with the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team. Returning to a two car full-time effort for the first time since the mid 1970s, the team remains owned by Sam Schmidt and Ric Peterson with McLaren not holding any ownership rights. McLaren dabbled with IndyCar in recent years, with a sole entry to the Indy 500 with Fernando Alonso as driver in 2017 and 2019.
