Ericsson clarifies Alfa Romeo Belgian GP duties

Marcus Ericsson will miss this weekend’s IndyCar Grand Prix of Portland to carry out Formula 1 duties with Alfa Romeo at the Belgian Grand Prix. The Swede was named as Alfa Romeo’s third driver for the 2019 season having lost his full-time F1 race seat with the Swiss squad fielding an all-new line-up of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi. Reports surfaced on Thursday morning suggesting that Ericsson had pulled out of the latest IndyCar round in order to drive for Alfa Romeo at Spa this weekend in place of Antonio Giovinazzi, though the team quickly denied that Ericsson will be in the race seat.
