Binotto confident Leclerc will benefit from investigation
Mattia Binotto is confident that Charles Leclerc will benefit from the investigation surrounding Max Verstappen and the Ferrari driver, citing the results of the recent Canadian Grand Prix. The Italian did, however, praise the battle between the two young drivers at the Austrian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen surged up the field after dropping from second to seventh off the line and on lap 69 secured the overtake which gave him the provisional win. The Dutchman made the move up the inside of Leclerc at turn three and forced the Monegasque to run off the track, allowing Verstappen to cross the line in first, a win which looked very unlikely after lap one.
