Lewis Hamilton: Inherited win leaves kind of an empty feeling
Lewis Hamilton says he had “kind of an empty feeling” in the wake of the penalty Sebastian Vettel sustained during their battle at the Canadian Grand Prix. Hamilton trailed Vettel throughout the 70-lap race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve but his Ferrari rival went wide through Turn 4 on lap 48, taking to the grass run-off. Stewards deemed that Vettel re-joined the track in an unsafe manner and forced Hamilton to take evasive action, slapping the four-time champion with a time penalty. Hamilton inherited the win, having crossed the line second, to extend his title advantage over Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas to 29 points. “Ultimately it is a kind of empty feeling...
