Montreal FP1: Bottas tops with Mercedes way ahead

Mercedes unleashed their Phase 2 engine for the first free practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, and Valtteri Bottas promptly set the fastest time in the morning session at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Friday. Bottas was 0.147 seconds faster than teammate Lewis Hamilton, the pair almost a full second faster than next best Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari. The Monegasque was nine-tenths shy of the top time.
