Russell delighted after unofficial Hungaroring lap record

Testing – Mercedes development driver George Russell praised the test as a 'great experience' after topping the second-and-final day in the Hungary in-season test. Despite gearbox issues causing a problematic first day of testing, Russell enjoyed a much smoother second day and completed 116 laps of the Hungaroring circuit. The afternoon session was where he was equipped with the softest available tyres – the hypersofts – and permitted to set some flying laps. As a result, he beat Antonio Giovinazzi's unofficial lap record from day one of the test by less than one tenth of a second, posting a 1:15.575.
