McLaren on top of engine adaption
While it is hoped that the switch from Honda power to Renault will allow McLaren to make a significant improvement this year, replacing the Japanese unit with its French rival brings its own share of headaches. Like Mercedes, Honda has the compressor at the front of its power unit, the turbine at the back and the MGU-H in the middle of the six-cylinder V. Renault, on the other hand, like Ferrari, has the compressor at the rear along with the MGU-H and turbine. Consequently, the switch meant a serious re-think in Woking.
