Perez: 2018 crucial for top F1 team hopes

Sergio Perez admits his performance in the 2018 Formula 1 world championship is crucial in determining whether he will get another shot with a big team. Perez's future in F1 was threatened after a difficult year with McLaren in 2013, but he has since rebuilt his reputation with Force India during the last four years. Perez finished best of the rest in seventh in the 2017 drivers' championship, 68 points adrift of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and 13 clear of teammate Esteban Ocon. He will stay on with Force India in 2018, but is aware there will be opportunities to move to a big team in 2019 with possible openings at Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.
