Unwell Magnussen to require pre-FP3 medical check

Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen was sent back to his hotel early after Friday practice for the Mexican Grand Prix after he felt unwell with what is believed to be a stomach bug. The FIA took the unusual step of allowing the Dane to miss the drivers' briefing, and he left the track shortly before 5pm. His fitness will be assessed by the FIA medical delegate before he is allowed to run on Saturday morning, but the team believes that it will be a formality. "He's actually feeling a lot better," team boss Gunther Steiner told Motorsport.com. "But we wanted to get him back to the hotel so he rests, and also that he doesn't give it to everyone.
