Bottas set for five-place Suzuka grid penalty

Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas is set for a five-place grid penalty in this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix for an unauthorised gearbox change. The Finnish driver, who was fifth fastest in Friday's only dry session at Suzuka, is in breach of the rule that states gearboxes must last for six consecutive races, unless they failed to finish the previous race. Bottas previously took a five-place grid penalty for changing a gearbox in July's Silverstone race. The penalty comes as another blow to Bottas after a run of difficult races that have seen him drop to 59 points behind teammate Lewis Hamilton in the championship.
