Alonso felt start crash cost him Singapore podium

Fernando Alonso thinks McLaren missed the chance to score its first Formula 1 podium finish in over three years in Singapore, only to be caught up in a collision at the start that ultimately forced him to retire. Starting eighth, Alonso made a lightning start around the outside in damp conditions and appeared to have dodged the crash between Max Verstappen, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel at Turn 1. However, Verstappen's car ultimately careered into Alonso, sending the McLaren-Honda up into the air and causing damage.
