Mercedes needs high-downforce gains to avoid "tricky" run-in
Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas believes the team needs to make gains with its high-downforce package to avoid a "tricky" run-in to the 2017 Formula 1 season. High-downforce tracks Monaco and Hungaroring were where Mercedes has had its least competitive outings in 2017 so far, the Silver Arrows powerless to prevent a front-row lock-out and 1-2 finish for chief rival Ferrari on both occasions. While Mercedes is expected to be in a stronger position for the upcoming post-summer break races in Belgium and Italy, both Bottas and his team boss Toto Wolff have pointed to the subsequent Singapore GP as a possible point of concern.
