Hulkenberg says gap to F1 frontrunners "scary"

Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg says the gap between the midfield teams and leading Formula 1 squads Mercedes and Ferrari is "a bit scary". The introduction of new regulations for the 2017 season has translated into the leading teams opening a bigger gap to their pursuers, with Mercedes and Ferrari emerging miles ahead of the competition. In the first race of the European season in Spain, only three cars - a Mercedes, a Ferrari and a Red Bull - finished on the lead lap. Hulkenberg labelled the gap to the frontrunners as "massive".
