Rosberg retires from F1 having becoming world champion
In a shock announcement today, Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team driver Nico Rosberg has confirmed he will retire from the sport, having achieved his childhood dream, by securing the 2016 Formula 1 title last weekend. The newly crowned world champion made the announcement whilst at a FIA Champions Gala in Vienna, which he was attending to officially receive his world championship trophy, having beaten team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the honours after three years of trying.
