Williams 'pleasantly surprised' by speed

– Williams performance chief Rob Smedley says the team was "pleasantly surprised" by its speed on the first day of practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix.Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa posted the third- and fourth-quickest times in FP2 at Interlagos, around half a second adrift of pace-setter Mercedes.Williams was closely followed by Red Bull and Ferrari, as all frontrunners sampled the Soft tyre, with third to eighth on the timesheets covered by 0.286s."We are pleasantly surprised at how good our pace was today," said Smedley."We've done a lot of set-up and development work in the simulator, and then subsequently on the track here, and the drivers are happy...
