Mercedes reveal intent for late Rosberg pitstop

Singapore Grand Prix – Mercedes' team boss Toto Wolff says the initial plan had been to pit Nico Rosberg after a late aggressive roll of the dice from Red Bull Racing. Rosberg had been leading Ricciardo on track by 2.5 seconds in the closing stages of the race, seemingly set for a straightforward run to the chequered flag. However, Red Bull decided to bring Ricciardo in and fit him with a fresh set of UltraSoft tyres – tyres that saw Ricciardo close back in on Rosberg at a frightening rate as the laps ticked away.
