Horner: Active Windscreen could work if made simpler

Red Bull boss Christian Horner believes that plans for an Active Windscreen to protect drivers in Formula 1 could work if the design is made simpler. Motorsport.com revealed on Thursday that former Ferrari and Williams engineer Enrique Scalabroni has been working on an active cockpit protection system. The device would react to an incident by firing a windshield up in front of the driver as well as a hood to protect his helmet if flying debris was detected. The plans were shown to Horner and F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone by Scalabroni at the Italian Grand Prix.
