Chris Amon dies, aged 73
1960s & 70s Formula 1 star Chris Amon has passed away at home in New Zealand. He was 73 years old. A native Kiwi, Amon raced in 96 World Championship Grands Prix between 1963 & 1976, driving for the likes of Ferrari, Cooper, March, Matra, Ensign, Tyrrell and his own Chris Amon Racing. However, he widely became known as one of the unluckiest men in motorsport as he would never manage to win a Grand Prix, despite leading plenty of them. Incidents, accidents and unreliability played their part to ensure he would retire from F1 without achieving that goal.
