PICS: Red Bull runs halo protector

Pierre Gasly has trialled the halo cockpit protector on the Red Bull at the in-season Silverstone test, marking the first time the new protection device has been run by a team other than Ferrari. Red Bull Racing has developed an alternative to the controversial halo prepared by Ferrari with its own aeroscreen which made its debut on Daniel Ricciardo's car in free practice one at the Russian Grand Prix. However, after the FIA remained uncertain about the aeroscreen's effectiveness - despite Red Bull releasing videos of the device during a high-speed impact test - it has backed the halo device to be implemented for the 2017 season.
