Rosberg escapes sanction, keeps second place

Nico Rosberg has escaped a sanction for an alleged breach of qualifying rules ahead of the British Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver was summoned to see the stewards after he was found to have exceeded the maximum time between the two safety car lines at the start of the first qualifying segment. However, Rosberg has not been penalised as he was not on an in-lap when he set his time, but rather on a lap to cool down his tyres before starting a new flyer, therefore not breaking the rules. "Car 6 was not on an in lap when the time between the Safety Car lines was set," said the stewards. Rosberg will start tomorrow's race from second place behind teammate Lewis Hamilton.
