Magnussen highlights short Soft tyre life: Q2 will be difficult
British Grand Prix – Renault's Kevin Magnussen said that his car went through a set of Soft tyres in a handful of laps on the sweeps of Silverstone, and said that Q2 may be out of reach this weekend. Magnussen sat on the sidelines for the opening practice session, handing his car over to Mercedes young driver and Renault reserve Esteban Ocon. Resuming his cockpit in the afternoon, the Dane finished the day towards the bottom of the times in P20, 3.2 seconds off the lead pace of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
