Hamilton fastest, Rosberg hits trouble
Mercedes AMG Petronas Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton stayed on top during the second practice session at Silverstone as Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg hit trouble. The pair were separated by just 0.033s during the opening session on Friday but Rosberg suffered a water leak which Mercedes appeared to resolve half an hour into running. Rosberg was set to join the action but Mercedes then conducted further investigations, ruling him out of the entire session. It left Hamilton clear to finish at the top of the standings, with a 1:31.660, 0.391s clear of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, with Max Verstappen in third position.
