Pirelli to begin testing wider 2017 tyres with Ferrari next month

Pirelli has confirmed the dates for its 2017 testing programme, which will see it undertake 24 days of on-track testing to develop its new wider tyres for next season. Formula 1's sole tyre supplier will conduct its first test with a modified 2015 Ferrari chassis at Fiorano on August 1-2, running intermediate and full wet tyres. The circuit will be artifically 'dampened' to allow full analysis of the new tyres. That test will be followed by a slick tyre test on August 3-4 with a modified 2015 Red Bull chassis. Mercedes will also supply a modified 2015 car for testing purposes, with it set to take to the Paul Ricard circuit in September for a slick tyre test. According to Pirelli,...
