Hamilton sweeps Baku practice, Rosberg hits trouble

Lewis Hamilton has completed a clean sweep of free practice sessions on the opening day of action around the all-new Baku City Circuit, though Mercedes's dominant 1-2 would be overshadowed by technical issues for championship leader Nico Rosberg. With the venue proving as tricky as expected during an error-strewn FP1, the early evening FP2 would once again test the drivers with numerous yellow flag periods for off-track excursions, even if there was to be no repeat of Daniel Ricciardo's earlier smash into the wall. Once more it was Mercedes that would set the pace with Hamilton defying his own offs to turn in a 1min 44.223secs lap on the super-soft, six-tenths clear of team-mate Rosberg....
