Hamilton heads opening Canada session

Mercedes AMG Petronas Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton led the way as Formula 1 action resumed at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Friday. Hamilton clocked a time of 1:14.755 on the Super Soft tyres during the opening 90-minute practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix to finish 0.331s clear of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. Rosberg, whose best lap came on the purple-banded Ultra Soft tyre, was a couple of tenths quicker than Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who placed third. Max Verstappen was fourth for Red Bull, with Kimi Räikkönen fifth for Ferrari, as Williams’ Valtteri Bottas finished sixth.
