Ricciardo hopeful RB12 tyre strength can lead to podium chance
Spanish Grand Prix – Heading to the Circuit de Catalunya, Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo says he thinks the harder tyre usage characteristics may play into the team's hands. Spain sees Pirelli bring the hardest compounds they make to the circuit: the Hard, Medium & Soft tyre. This is due to the abrasive nature of the track surface, as well as the fast, flowing nature of the corners demanding much from the tyre. This is an area Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo feels his RB12 has an advantage over some of the other teams, as he explained in his race preview: “It’s a relatively high down force circuit so we can strap most of the things on the car that make it go faster.
