Contract extension and 'first class work' at the Hungaroring

The Hungaroring has had its F1 contract renewed; this comes on the same week the new facilities were inspected by the FIA's Charlie Whiting.  The circuit had extensive work carried out over the last couple of months, laying down a new track surface and working on the pit facilities and kerbing – the first significant upgrade of the track since its introduction to the calendar in the mid 1980s. While the circuit has retained its FIA Grade 1 licence and does so for another two years, track officials invited the FIA's Charlie Whiting to inspect the work being carried out at the track.
