Alonso says he "understands" FIA decision

Fernando Alonso says he understands the FIA's decision to not clear him to race in the Bahrain Grand Prix. The McLaren driver will miss this weekend's second round of the season after FIA doctors deemed it was not safe for the Spaniard to race so soon after his huge Australian Grand Prix crash. "Two sets of chest CT scans were compared and it was decided on safety grounds that there was insufficient resolution of the signs to allow him to compete on safety grounds," the FIA said in a statement after spending 90 minutes with Alonso in the medical centre on Thursday. Alonso will be replaced by McLaren's reserve Stoffel Vandoorne, and the two-time champion will undergo further tests...
