GP2 racer Latifi gets Renault F1 test role, FP1 outing

©Renault Sport Formula One Team Renault has appointed GP2 Series racer Nicholas Latifi to an F1 test driver role, with the Canadian hopeful set to take part in at least one grand prix free practice once he secures his Super Licence. To that end, the 20-year-old will be put through a tailored test schedule while also being involved in a long-term development programme. After arriving in Europe in 2012, Latifi became a race winner in Italian F3 and took podium finishes and pole positions in British F3. A varied 2015 programme included 11th spot in the Formula Renault 3.5 standings, a podium finish in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and a handful of GP2 race appearances. This year, he will...
