Alonso: New qualifying 'a headache' for F1 fans

Veteran driver Fernando Alonso claims Formula One's new qualifying format will simply give fans a 'headache' as it is over-complicated. The F1 Commission green-lit a new elimination style qualifying system last week, but Bernie Ecclestone announced over the weekend that its introduction will be delayed until at least the fifth race of the season as the new timing software will not be ready for the season opener in Australia on 20th March. McLaren driver Alonso, who has raced in F1 for 15 years, believes it was unnecessary to change qualifying, and he believes the system will simply confuse spectators – labelling the changes as 'crazy' during an interview with Spanish radio station...
