Barcelona reduces Spanish GP subsidy

© WRI2 The Spanish Grand Prix will be hit with a 50% reduction in funding from Barcelona's city council. The Circuit de Catalunya which has hosted the Spanish GP, one of the most popular races on the F1 calendar, since 1991, extended its contract with FOM last year until 2019. However, a change of Barcelona's city council following recent elections has led to a reduction in subsidy of nearly 2 million Euros for next year, a decision which is also part of a move to gradually phase out the city's contribution altogether.
