Ricciardo buoyed by ‘representative’ Friday pace

Daniel Ricciardo says he is happy with how Red Bull performed in “representative” conditions during Friday free practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Australian clocked the seventh quickest time in the hotter, early afternoon session at Yas Marina Circuit, before improving to fourth fastest in FP2, which took place at dusk, a similar time to that of Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race. “The morning was okay but this evening was a lot better,” Ricciardo said. “This is the important session because this is when we qualify and race, so what has happened with the balance, we are more or less where we want to be.
