Vandoorne 'optimistic' about F1 chances after GP2 win

Stoffel Vandoorne says he is "optimistic" about securing a place in Formula 1 next season after winning the GP2 title in only his second season. The Belgian wrapped up the title in Russia this weekend with a 108 point lead over second placed Alexander Rossi with two rounds remaining. Having won the championship in emphatic fashion, Vandoorne believes there are "chances out there" for him to make the step from GP2 to F1, despite almost every seat being claimed.
