Jenson Button: 'My best qualifying performance of the year'
Russian Grand Prix – McLaren's Jenson Button hailed getting into Q2 and finishing in P13 as his best Saturday performance of the year. While getting out of Q1 was made slightly easier by the non-participation of Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz, Button was the sole McLaren to do so. Setting a time 0.4 seconds quicker than Fernando Alonso, Button made it through to Q2 – a feat even more impressive as Alonso is running an upgraded Honda power unit. In Q2, Button ended the session in P13 and says he feels encouraged by the improved showing: “This was probably my best qualifying performance of the year.
