Valtteri Bottas: “This was the maximum result today”

Valtteri Bottas felt his Singapore Grand Prix was better than expected after finishing fifth on Sunday despite a disappointing set of practice results. The Williams Martini Racing driver was able to capitalise on the misfortune of others to claim his position inside the top five, most noticeable Lewis Hamilton’s retirement, and survived a late gremlin with his gearbox to keep the charging Daniil Kvyat behind him. “It was a good race for me,” said Bottas. “The start was good, the pace was a little bit better than we expected.
