Vettel revels in 'near-perfect lap' en route to Singapore pole

Sebastian Vettel made no secret of his elation after scoring Ferrari's first dry pole position in five years on Saturday night in Singapore. As Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg struggled to work with their tyres throughout qualifying at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Vettel seized the initiative to deliver a crushing display reminiscent of his Red Bull heyday in 2013. The German posted a fastest lap time of 1:43.885 to finish half a second clear of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo in second place, marking his first pole position since the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix.
