Hamilton stays ahead in second session

Mercedes AMG Petronas World Champion Lewis Hamilton continued to set the pace during practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix as Red Bull emerged as Mercedes’ primary challenger. Hamilton, who topped the opening session on Friday morning, posted a time of 1:23.949 to end the day 0.351s quicker than Daniil Kvyat, with Daniel Ricciardo in third position. Red Bull’s day, however, was bittersweet as while its RB11 performed well due to the Hungaroring’s layout, Ricciardo stopped on track with 20 minutes remaining when his car suffered an engine failure.
