Branson: Formula E to overtake F1 in popularity

Virgin Group founder and Virgin Racing team owner Sir Richard Branson expects Formula E to become more popular than Formula 1 in the next five years. Virgin has been involved in both racing championships, sponsoring Brawn GP in 2009 before Branson set up his own F1 team in 2010. It evolved into the Marussia F1 Team at the end of 2011. Branson returned to the motorsport world last year, with Virgin Racing competing in the inaugural FIA Formula E season. He believes the all-electric series will soon surpass F1 in popularity.
