Pirelli boss defends tyres after Canadian GP criticism

After a Canadian Grand Prix in which tyres were the order of the day, Pirelli boss Paul Hembery has spoken out about both the 2015 compounds' race pace and Nico Rosberg's qualifying incident in which the German was informed by the Mercedes pitwall that he had received a bad set of supersofts. 'We've not seen the performance improvements anticipated at the start of the year, and which were suggested in winter testing and Melbourne,' Hembery said. 'If we wanted to be self-critical we are finding this year wear and degradation levels are improved over last year, and the cars are maximising the tyres for a far greater number of laps.'
