FIA opens up entry process for 2016/17

Red Bull/Getty Images The FIA, Formula 1's governing body, has opened up the selection process for prospective teams to enter the championship from either 2016 or 2017. Formula 1 has not had a new team since Virgin, Caterham and HRT joined the sport at the start of 2010, though Gene Haas' eponymous squad will enter Formula 1 in 2016. "The overall long-term interests of the Championship will determine which candidate is selected,"read a statement posted on the FIA's website.
