Todt: Banning alcohol sponsorship ‘not possible'
FIA president Jean Todt has ruled out the prospect of a ban on alcohol sponsorship in Formula 1, stating it would be “not possible”. The European Alcohol Policy Alliance, known as Eurocare, last week called on the FIA and Todt to clamp down on alcohol sponsorship in the sport. An investigation by Eurocare targeting the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix found that TV viewers were exposed to an alcohol advert every five seconds. Three Formula 1 teams currently carry alcohol branding, with Williams running a Martini livery, Force India featuring prominent logos of drinks firms Smirnoff and Kingfisher, and McLaren sponsored by long-time partner Johnnie Walker.
