Sainz Jr disqualified from qualifying after pit error

Carlos Sainz Jr has been disqualified from qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix after he missed the FIA's call for him to enter the weighbridge. The Toro Rosso driver failed to stop and enter the FIA garage when he was signalled to by a red light shortly after the pit lane entry. The Spaniard had qualified eighth for the race, but following the severe penalty, will now start from the pit lane in last position. "The driver failed to stop for weighing during Q1 when signalled to do so by the red traffic light, the car was not returned to the FIA garage and work was undertaken," read a statement from the stewards.
