Vettel hoping to be closer to Mercedes in race

Sebastian Vettel believes that Mercedes are enjoying a larger gap in pace at the front, than at previous races. The Ferrari driver will start Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix from third position, after failing to challenge the Mercedes pair of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, who will occupy the front row. The German had indicated on Friday that Ferrari had failed to get any closer to Mercedes through their latest upgrades, but has had to concede that the gap appears to have actually increased after seeing the full extent of the Mercedes hand in Qualifying.
