Hamilton storms to pole position – qualifying report

Lewis Hamilton claimed what would turn out to be a comfortable pole position for Mercedes ahead of Sebastian Vettel for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The session began in twilight conditions as the world prepared to watch a predicted battle between Mercedes and Ferrari. It was a Ferrari that first out of the pits as Kimi Raikkonen spent the first couple of minutes circulating by himself. He was eventually joined by Valtteri Bottas and Nico Rosberg. In the early exchanges of prime-tyre laps, Rosberg edged Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.
