Hamilton leads Mercedes 1-2 – FP1 Report
Lewis Hamilton had a solid start to his Chinese Grand Prix weekend after beating his team-mate by half a second in free practice one. The easily-recognisable hazy backdrop was a familiar sight as the Formula One roadshow began its twelfth Chinese Geand Prix weekend. With the usual installation laps completed, it was Nico Rosberg who was the first to set a lap time – an accolade usually reserved for a back marker team – fifteen minutes into the session, posting a 1:41.052. As the rest of the field started to post their opening laps, Jolyon Palmer, who was driving Romain Grosjean's Lotus, managed to half-spin his car on the exit of turn eight.
