Smedley: Car not the problem for Williams in qualifying

It was a disappointing qualifying performance for Williams in Malaysia as both Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas found themselves in the back half of the top ten and nearly three seconds off Lewis Hamilton's best time in Q3. Rain was the crucial factor in Williams' drop off in qualifying, with both Bottas and Williams head of performance engineering Rob Smedley citing errors in tyre pressure as the culprit. “In the wet we didn’t get the most out of the tyres,” said Bottas. “The car’s not at its best in the wet, but it’s not two or three seconds from Ferrari.
