FIA wants new cameras for crash investigations

– New high speed cameras could be fitted to Formula 1 cars from 2016 in a bid to improve investigations into accidents.Formula 1 cars are already fitted with data recorders, while at race meetings footage is captured via trackside and onboard cameras.But some crashes are shrouded by uncertainty, such as the one suffered by Fernando Alonso at last week's Barcelona test, which was only picked up from a distant CCTV camera.The proposal was put forward by the Formula 1 Commission before Alonso's crash and will now need to be ratified at the next meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council in March."For the purpose of accident analysis, each car must be fitted with a high speed...
