Force India defends blocking Marussia F1 team

Force India deputy team principal Bob Fernley has defended a decision taken by Formula One's Strategy Group to block Marussia's return this season via the use of a 2014 car. The Group, which comprises the FIA, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and the leading six teams – Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Williams and Force India – met in Paris on Thursday. One of the items on the agenda was whether to allow Marussia, renamed as Manor Grand Prix on the 2015 entry list, to use a modified 2014 car in this year's championship, with majority approval required ahead of a second vote at an F1 commission meeting next week.
